More than 110 attendees from about 50 companies gathered under our roof to discuss and exchange ideas on various topics related to the Virtual Power Plant. Topics ranged from hybrid parks and balancing power to global market insights and power forecasts. 

Our colleagues Lars and Peter from the Forecasting Key Acoounting team are attending the ESIG (Energy Systems Integration Group) Summer Workshops 2026 in Denver, Colorado, from June 15th-17th. At this year's event, they are sharing insights into two key topics that are shaping the future of renewable energy forecasting: AI-driven forecasting and situational awareness for solar power plants in high-risk areas.

Artificial intelligence now affects almost everyone and nearly every field of work. The renewable energy sector is no exception. But where are the opportunities, and where does AI reach its limits when it comes to delivering accurate forecasts? This topic explored our colleague Eike Arndt in his presentation "AI-Forecast-Driven Remote-Control of Distributed Energy" at ETCSEE 2026 in Budapest.

We have been awarded the Cyber Trust Europe Label in Silver based on the “Cyber Risk Rating Scheme” of the Competence Center for a Secure Austria. The closing event for the DIGITECHNETZ project – Digitalisation Technologies for the Operation of Low-Voltage Networks – took place in Dresden at the beginning of February. We were able to provide significant support for the project with our grid load forecasts for the low-voltage network and develop forecasts at several levels.

Oldenburg/London, 24 February 2026 – Statkraft, Europe's largest producer of renewable energy, and emsys VPP have reached an important milestone in their collaboration. Following the successful connection of the 300 MW Thurrock battery storage facility in 2025, emsys VPP is now enabling Statkraft to manage a gigawatt-scale portfolio of installed battery capacity in the United Kingdom.

How can Panama strengthen its forecasting systems to reliably integrate growing shares of solar and wind power? This was the key question energy & meteo systems addressed in a consulting project commissioned under the Euroclima Programme, implemented together with GIZ and in close cooperation with key stakeholders in Panama.

Oldenburg/Düsseldorf, 6 February 2026 – emsys VPP and Pure Energy are further expanding their long-standing cooperation and are now also jointly entering the balancing power market. The two companies have been working together successfully in direct marketing since 2016 and are now reaching the next milestone in their partnership.
