European Market Forecasts for Wind and Solar Power

As an expert in renewable energy power forecasting, energy & meteo systems offers a comprehensive portfolio of wind and solar power forecasts for numerous energy markets across Europe. Based on a wide range of meteorological models and optimized using real-time measurements, we generate precise power forecasts aggregated at price zone and country level. Currently, we forecast wind power generation for more than 30 countries and solar power generation for over 15 countries.

High-resolution forecasts for all relevant market horizons

Our services range from highly accurate intraday forecasts with quarter-hourly updates to forecasts with a time horizon of up to ten days. All forecasts are provided in quarter-hourly resolution, covering the majority of time horizons relevant to energy trading.

Forecasts for real and potential generation

Our forecasts are optimized for the real power feed into the grid – that is, the energy that is effectively injected into the system. Therefore, all types of curtailments are taken into account. For Germany and selected other countries, we additionally provide forecasts of technically possible feed-in. These consider only technical and scheduled plant unavailability.

Model spreads and historical forecasts

In addition to the base forecast, we also provide model spreads for most countries. These are particularly useful for assessing the uncertainty of the current and upcoming weather situation. To enable fast and efficient integration of forecasts into trading workflows, energy & meteo systems also provides historical forecast data upon request.

Expert weather reports for Germany

As an additional service, we offer expert-written weather reports for Germany. Every morning, our team of meteorologists analyzes the current weather situation and, when necessary, distributes alerts for intraday and day-ahead trading. These include, for example, warnings about icing or snowfall as well as information on expected grid or market curtailments.
