egs Grid Operator Days 2025

Two Days Full of Exchange and Diverse Insights

On September 24 and 25, 2025, our annual egs Grid Operator Days took place once again – two intensive days dedicated to expert presentations, hands-on workshops, and lively exchange. Together with our grid operator customers, we discussed current topics related to the energy transition as well as innovations in our grid platform.

Forward-Looking Topics in Focus

Key topics included the further development of Redispatch 2.0, highlighted by an inspiring guest contribution from Daniel Engelbrecht of MITNETZ Strom, as well as various new features of our grid platform. In addition to the workshop “Batteries in Practice”, new functionalities were presented, such as the controllability check in accordance with § 12 (2d) EnWG. This feature enables grid operators to reliably meet current requirements and transparently, automatically, and audit-proof demonstrate the controllability of their installations.

Furthermore, Bernd Klaßen from SWO Netz reported on the current status of the joint pilot project for metering point operator/small plant control via the BDEW Web API (§ 9 EEG), which aims to standardize the control of smaller installations. Other relevant grid topics included grid condition analysis in high-voltage grids and the CGMES exporter for predictive grid models within the GLDPM process (GLDPM: Generation and load data provision methodology). Particularly valuable were the insights from our customers who already use these services and shared their practical experiences. With the CGMES exporter, DSOs and TSOs can merge data, schedules, switching states, and forecasts, calculate the overall grid, and export the results in a standardized format. The program was rounded off with topics on information security and new security features of our grid platform.

Insights from emsys Partner Companies

Cross-company exchange was once again enriching: colleagues from energy & meteo systems provided insights into weather-related challenges in wind and solar power forecasting, while emsys VPP demonstrated its asset connection tool in practice. This tool enables efficient data exchange and communication between emsys VPP, aggregators, and service providers to manage asset connections and quickly and securely integrate new assets into the Virtual Power Plant.

Networking and Exchange

In addition to the high-quality content, there was also plenty of space for personal conversations, networking, and professional exchange – whether during breaks or at the joint evening gathering. We would like to thank all participants, speakers, and guests who made the egs Grid Operator Days 2025 such a great success – and we are already looking forward to the next edition!
