Summer Celebration with Anniversary Sparkle

Just in time for our 22nd anniversary, we celebrated our annual summer party! The initial rain didn’t dampen our spirits at all: We kicked things off with a lavish cake buffet, which kept us entertained until we finally got a few rays of sunshine for our party.

What followed was an evening filled with lively conversations, sports activities, dancing, and a delicious tapas buffet prepared with passion by our kitchen team! The cherry on top was the musical performance by the brass band Brazzo Brazzone and the refreshing cocktails from the nostalgic Caravan Bar.

Special thanks to our dear organizers and all the helpers!

Campus Meets the Real World

Insights into Software Development and Energy Meteorology

Yesterday we welcomed students from Jade University and Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, in collaboration with Leibniz University Hannover.

Whilst 21 students from the Computer Science programme at Jade University learned from our forecasting development team, using our development platform, about what software development – including processes and quality assurance – looks like in day-to-day work, a second group learnt from our research team about the importance of weather and meteorology for the energy transition. Subsequently, the 22 students from the Bachelor’s programmes in Environmental Meteorology at the University of Oldenburg and the University of Hanover explored how energy meteorological data is analysed in an interactive workshop.

We are always happy to give students an insight into our work and the diverse range of tasks involved in the energy transition. For us, the exchange with the next generation of scientists is just as valuable as the opportunity to inspire future professionals for our industry.

When the lunch break suddenly gets noisier...

Our holiday club is taking place again this week: 10 children aged between 4 and 10 are enjoying a varied programme alongside their two dedicated carers. From planting sunflowers and painting Easter eggs to making treasure chests, an exciting treasure hunt and a visit to the library – there’s plenty of variety on offer.

Whilst you usually only notice the children in passing during the working day, by lunchtime at the latest it becomes impossible to ignore: that’s when our two tube slides are in constant use – and with great enthusiasm! And in the canteen, sitting next to one colleague or another, you suddenly find little “little ones” proudly telling us all about the holiday programme.

A fantastic initiative that not only delights the children but also makes the working day a little livelier. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible!

Successful Start at E-world 2026!

What a great start to this year’s E-world! Our booth was buzzing from the very first minute – with a steady stream of great conversations throughout the day and an incredible turnout at our traditional booth party in the evening.

Together with long-standing partners and many new faces, we enjoyed classic “Grünkohl,” authentic Oldenburg refreshments, and live music in a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared ideas, and celebrated with us.

We’re excited for the days ahead and for many more inspiring discussions about smart IT solutions driving the integration of renewable energy and the future of energy supply.

Merry Christmas!

Instead of sending a Christmas card, we are once again supporting the valuable work of Bergwaldprojekt e.V. and are having one tree planted for each employee – 250 trees in total – in the Sauerland region, which has been severely affected by forest dieback. The aim of this planting initiative is to help restore natural forests on areas that have been cleared as a result of the climate crisis.

For more than 30 years, Bergwaldprojekt has been working as an international conservation organization with thousands of volunteers to protect and restore ecosystems. In week-long project activities, anyone can get involved in meaningful environmental work and discover new natural habitats at various locations.

We wish you a restful holiday season and a healthy New Year, in which we will continue to pursue our shared goal of a renewable future with determination.

Things were really buzzing at emsys this week!

Our office building once again turned into a hub for our holiday childcare program: 14 children between the ages of four and ten enthusiastically took over the stairwell at lunchtime – especially enjoying our two tube slides!

But there was plenty more to do for everyone: baking cookies, carving pumpkins, visiting the library, collecting autumn treasures, and conducting exciting experiments with electricity and wind energy.

Even our lunches matched the theme: rice pudding, “Viking stew,” and other favorites brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

A big thank-you to everyone who made this fun and varied week possible – for the shining eyes of the children and a little extra life in our offices!

'Mouse Day' 2025 – Children experience sustainable energy!

For the third time, we opened our doors for the ‘Sendung mit der Maus’ (TV programme) Open Day – and the place was once again buzzing with energy! In four hands-on workshops, 40 children explored how renewable energy is generated from wind, sun and technology. There were also breaks for sliding, games and a delicious snack buffet – naturally accompanied by plenty of fun and enthusiasm.

‘Mouse Day’ is a project close to our hearts: we want to combine sustainability, a passion for technology and the promotion of young talent – and show just how exciting the energy transition can be.

A special thank you goes to the many dedicated emsys volunteers and supervisors who made this successful event possible on their day off!

emsys cycles for a good cause and sponsors CITY CYCLING

This year, emsys sponsored Oldenburg's CITY CYCLING campaign for the first time. From 5 to 25 September 2025, 3,613 Oldenburg residents pedalled their bikes to cycle a total of at least 514,650 kilometres. The aim of the campaign was to reach the most bicycle-friendly cities in Europe in ten virtual stages – and to support ten charitable organisations in the process.

Thirty-two dedicated emsys cyclists also took part. Together, they covered an impressive 5,234 kilometres – an average of 164 kilometres per person – and thus contributed to the successful completion of the 8th stage from Oslo to Copenhagen, which we sponsored.

As a reward, emsys was able to present a donation cheque for € 1,000 to ReparaturRat Oldenburg e.V. The association is strongly committed to sustainable mobility and resource conservation. Perhaps of interest to some: its bicycle tinkerers are among the few experts in Oldenburg who specialise in repairing e-bikes.

A total of 633,007 kilometres were clocked up by 151 teams in Oldenburg's CITY CYCLING 2025 campaign – a fantastic result and a real incentive to get even more emsys employees involved next year!

emsys cycles to Schillig

This year's two-day company outing was once again a real highlight! Nearly 70 emsys employees set off by bike – either for the entire route or just part of it – on the 80 km journey to Schillig on the North Sea coast. Meanwhile, those travelling by bus visited the Wilhelmshaven Wadden Sea Centre.

Once reunited, we kicked off a varied workshop programme on Friday with 20 exciting topics, which were lively discussed by the approximately 130 participants in three sessions. In the evening, it was time to socialise – whether with music and drinks, table tennis, billiards or relaxing around the campfire.

Saturday began with yoga on the beach, followed by activities such as kite surfing and mudflat hiking. Finally, a 60-strong bicycle convoy rolled back along the dyke – with a well-deserved ice cream break in Hooksiel. Last but not least, the perfect weather contributed to making the two days a complete success.

Team spirit, endurance and plenty of sporting spirit!

Yesterday, our sports-mad colleagues gave it their all at the triathlon in Bad Zwischenahn – and with great success! A total of six emsys relay teams took to the start line and showed their best. A real highlight: one team secured first place in the Olympic distance by a clear margin!

We are proud of all the participants – whether on the bike, in the water or on the running course. You not only delivered outstanding sporting performances, but also demonstrated genuine team spirit. A big thank you to the organisers and to everyone who cheered us on from the sidelines!

Summer Holiday at emsys

Once again this year, we at emsys are offering a summer holiday care programme for our employees’ children – with great success and lots of fun for everyone involved.

Up to 16 children aged between 3 and 9 are lovingly looked after over a three-week period and enjoy a varied programme: from creative craft sessions and sporting activities in the garden to an exciting treasure hunt, there’s something for everyone.

A special highlight: our slides, which bring a sparkle to the children’s eyes at lunchtime and at the end of the day – as does the new certificate of participation, which every child receives as a small reward at the end of the programme.

We are delighted that this programme helps us contribute to a better work-life balance.

Celebrating Midsummer at emsys!

Last Friday, we celebrated a joyful Midsummer Festival with our colleagues and their families – over 200 adults and 60 kids filled the emsys garden with laughter, sunshine, and summer vibes.

Our garden turned into a festive Scandinavian haven: decorated birch trees, wildflower bouquets, a bouncy castle for the little ones, and a charming cocktail cart for the grown-ups. A delicious Nordic buffet, strawberry cake, and an ice cream truck made sure nobody left hungry. As the evening continued, we gathered around the fire pit and ended the night with music from our DJ.

Thanks to everyone who joined and helped create such a great atmosphere – it was the perfect way to welcome summer together!
