emsys ID

The emsys ID is a name for your emsys Box in our system. When contacting us, a clear assignment can take place through this. The emsys ID can be found as an applied label on the emsys Box itself, which is made up of a prefix and the plant name assigned by us. The designation of an emsys ID could look like this, for example: PF_Winterstorm or ESB_Sunhat.

Scope of Delivery

The emsys Box is supplied with the accessories required for the standard initial installation.

The following components are supplied with the emsys Box:

  • 1x Power supply unit
  • 1x Counterpart for a top-hat rail connection
  • 1x Patch cable

The LTE model also includes a 1x MiMo antenna with a magnetic base.

Installation Confirmation | Commissioning Appointment

As soon as the emsys Box has been installed in accordance with the commissioning instructions and the plant has been fully operational, please send an e-mail to esb@emsysvpp.de with the information that the emsys Box has been installed and can be tested.

If you would like to make an appointment for commissioning, please contact us in advance via the following e-mail address: esb@emsysvpp.de or by phone on +49 441 212 12 - 12.

Curtailment Test

After the installation of the emsys Box has been notified, we test the connection and check whether measurement data can be retrieved. Should this be the case, a date may be set to conduct a curtailment test. The requirement for this is a sufficient feed-in of the plant.

Integration of the emsys Box into Business Networks

The buyer commits to maintain the connection of the router to the Internet, if available. It is mandatory to allow the router to perform DNS requests and establish VPN connections not limited to certain IP addresses or ports using UDP.

Public and Private IP Addresses

Only private IP addresses are permitted for the configuration of an emsys Box, see table:

Public IP-Addresses Private IP-Addresses
1.0.0.0 – 9.255.255.255 10.0.0.0 bis 10.255.255.255
11.0.0.0 – 172.15.255.255 172.16.0.0 bis 172.31.255.255
172.32.0.0 – 192.167.255.255 192.168.0.0 bis 192.168.255.255
192.169.0.0 – 223.255.255.255

Full Feed-in / Surplus Feed-in

Full feed-in:
Production = Feed-in

Surplus feed-in:
Production - Self-consumption = Feed-in

Usually, a power meter is installed at a surplus power feed-in facility to provide accurate measurements from the grid connection point.

VPN-Keys vs. emsys Box

VPN keys are only provided to accredited remote control service providers known to us. In this way, we ensure that the requirements, obligations, processes and technical conditions are known and implemented.

Alternatively, if compatible data loggers / SCADA manufacturer interfaces are used or you have a target device (e. g. PLC) on which a Modbus-TCP or IEC-104 data point list can be implemented, you can also order an emsys Box, which is delivered pre-configured with VPN keys.

Switching the Direct Marketer

In case of a switch to a direct marketer who uses our virtual power plant, we usually receive all the necessary information from them. The emsys Box can continue to be used and there are no costs for you.

In case of a switch to a direct marketer that does not use our virtual power plant, our emsys Box will no longer be compatible and you will have to hire a new remote control service provider.

Retrieval Interval of the Measurement Data

As a rule, the measurement data is retrieved every 30 seconds.

Target Device (Data logger, SCADA, PLC...)

The emsys Box communicates with the target device, which provides the emsys Box with measurement data and transmits set point signals.

Incidents

Your plant is monitored by us via the installed emsys Box. As a result, any faults that occur can be detected and reported to the technical contact person specified in the contract.

Once the fault has been rectified, it is necessary for us to receive a fault clearance notification. This can be done either by phone (+49 441 212 12 - 12) or by e-mail (esb@emsysvpp.de).

Various malfunctions and their definitions are listed below:

VPN connection interrupted

If there is no VPN connection to the emsys Box, neither measurement data can be retrieved nor control signals sent to the system.

Target device unreachable

The target device cannot be pinged at the IP address configured on the emsys Box. No measurement data can be retrieved.

Port xyz closed

The target device’s port is closed. Measurement data cannot be retrieved.

Port xyz filtered

The target device’s port is filtered. Measurement data cannot be retrieved.

Live measurement / Metering point

Live measurement under the metering point measurement:
The park’s feed-in measurement data are lower than the actual electricity fed into the grid.

Live measurement above the metering point measurement:
The park’s feed-in measurement data are higher than the actual electricity fed into the grid.

Unstable connection

The measurement data cannot be retrieved continuously. The direct marketer receives incomplete measurement data. Depending on the instability, the gaps may vary in frequency and duration. In some cases, no measurement data can be retrieved.

Web interface

The data logger’s web interface is unavailable.
