VPP Customer Days
Three Days of Inspiring Expert Dialogue on the Virtual Power Plant
From 24 to 26 June 2025 energy experts from across Europe met at emsys VPP for the annual Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Customer Days. The event kicked off on 24 June with the Austrian VPP Customer Day and continued with two international conference days, drawing nearly 100 professionals from utilities and power traders.
Spotlight on strategy, markets and technology
“emsys’ Global Footprint – Products, Markets & Use-Cases” by Eike Arndt set the stage with an overview of new roll-outs and success stories worldwide. Managing Director Ulrich Focken unveiled the VPP Roadmap, detailing upcoming platform developments and structural changes designed to support a more efficient global deployment of the Virtual Power Plant. Manuel Karlin, CISO, outlined the latest IT-security enhancements.
Our international partners also enriched the agenda: Optimus Energy shared “The Greek Way of Renewable Curtailments”, offering lessons from the Hellenic market while Eesti Energia presented on balancing markets and flexibility in the Baltics, highlighting cross-border aggregation opportunities.
Deep dives & workshops
Anika Beer and Philip Rostosky provided meteorological insights on managing special events in power forecasting and the quality of market-level forecasts across Europe.
In parallel workshop tracks, participants could choose between a technical session on hybrid parks and forecasting requirements, or a regulatory deep dive into EEG §10b (6) monitoring with the MAnGO tool.
A lively “Peer Insights” open forum rounded off the conference content, giving attendees the opportunity to raise key topics and shape future development.
Networking that sparks ideas
After day one, guests moved to the emsys garden for a relaxed Get-Together & BBQ: fresh grill specialities, a cocktail truck and live music kept the conversation flowing well into the evening.
“Our Customer Days are all about co-creation,” said Ulrich Focken. “The direct feedback we receive here feeds straight into the next generation of our Virtual Power Plant.”
A big thank-you to every speaker and participant for making VPP Customer Days 2025 a success. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and shaping flexible, secure and sustainable power systems together.
