Third “Door Opener Day” on Renewable Energy

emsys opens its doors to young explorers

Last Friday, on holiday October 3rd, things got lively at emsys once again: forty children aged 5 to 11 discovered just how exciting green energy can be. Inspired by the German TV show “Sendung mit der Maus”, we opened our doors under the motto “Open Doors with the Mouse” – giving curious young researchers a hands-on introduction to the world of renewable energy.

Accompanied by around 25 supervisors and 9 dedicated emsys volunteers, the children spent four hours diving into a variety of fascinating topics. In small groups, they learned

  • how wind power generates electricity,
  • how solar energy is converted into usable power,
  • what goes on inside our server rooms,
  • and why renewable energies play such an important role in a sustainable future.

Between the workshops, there was plenty of time to play, draw, and enjoy some snacks from the buffet. The mix of exploring, experimenting, and having fun brought smiles all around – for the kids and our team alike. “Every year it’s amazing to see how enthusiastic children are about technology and energy,” said one of our volunteers. “That curiosity is the best energy source there is.”

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the dedicated emsys volunteers and supervisors who made this wonderful event possible on their day off!

With initiatives like this, we aim to inspire children at an early age to explore science, technology, and sustainability – because those who discover with joy today will drive the energy of the future tomorrow.
